HILLSBORO - Daley Harper, 81, a resident of Hillsboro for 28 years died Monday in Lake View Hospital at Danville, Ill. He had been a patient for 16 days and in failing health for several years. Mr. Harper, until three years ago, had been town marshal of Hillsboro for 11 years. He was a retired employee of Alcoa Aluminum at Lafayette. He was a member of the Sterling Christian Church and Police League of Indiana. He was born June 14, 1889, at Veedersburg to Granville and Mary Cole Harper. On Oct. 31, 1908, he married Belva Bowman at Wallace. Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Dorene Holland of Veedersburg and Mrs. John (Betty) Smith of Hebron; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Sales of Danville, Ill.; a brother, Dave Harper of Brook; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, one son, two brothers and one sister. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery at Wallace. Other arrangements are incomplete at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home here. -- kbz

Daley Harper, 81, of Hillsboro, died Monday (Jan. 18, 1971) at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville. He had been ill several years. Born June 14, 1889, in Veedersburg, he was the son of Granville and Mary Cole Harper. He was married Oct. 31, 1908, at Wallace to Belva Bowman, who survives. Mr. Harper had resided in Hillsboro for the past 28 years. He was retired from the Alcoa Aluminum Plant at Lafayette and served as town marshal for 11 years. He retired from that position three years ago. He was a member of the Sterling Christian Church and Police League of Indiana. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dorene Holland of Veedersburg and Mrs. Betty Smith of Hebron; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Sales of Danville; a brother Dave of Brock; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
